Coach English

Hey. I'm Coach English.

I grew up loving this game. I played it at the college level as a shortstop at Wingate University, and I've never stopped believing that baseball teaches kids something you can't learn in a classroom — how to fail, reset, and come back stronger.

I've lived in Boone since 2008. I teach Public Speaking at Appalachian State University. I sell real estate here. And this season, I'm coaching a little league team of 11 and 12 year olds who remind me every single practice why this game matters.

Boone Baseball Academy exists for every kid in the High Country who loves this game — regardless of skill level, background, or experience. My job is simple: help your kid get better, build their confidence, and fall deeper in love with baseball.

Get Started Today

Three Words.
Everything Else
Follows.

In Coach English's experience, players who commit to these three things don't just become better baseball players — they become the kind of people everyone wants on their team, on and off the field.

01

Hustle

For the game, for your teammates, and for yourself — every practice, every at-bat, every groundball. No half-speed. No shortcuts. You bring it every time.

02

Respect

For the game's traditions, for the umpires who officiate it, for the coaches who invest in it, for the opponents across the diamond, and for yourself. Respect isn't optional — it's the foundation.

03

Growth

Every player is a work in progress — and that's exactly the point. We don't measure success by wins and losses. We measure it by whether you're better today than you were yesterday. Improvement is the goal. Development never stops.

Why Choose Us

Built Different.
On Purpose.

🎓

Coached by Someone Who's Been There

Coach English played college baseball at Wingate University and has spent decades studying and teaching the game. This isn't a side project — it's a calling.

🏔️

Rooted in This Community

Coach English has lived, worked, taught, and served in the High Country since 2008. He's not passing through. He's your neighbor — and he's invested in this place.

🤝

Built for Every Kid

No tryouts. No cuts. No atmosphere that makes your kid feel like they don't belong. If your son or daughter loves baseball, there is a place for them here.

Small Groups. Real Coaching.

Clinics are kept intentionally small so every player gets genuine attention — not just a spot in a crowd watching someone else hit off a tee.

The Guy Behind
the Program

Jason English is a college-trained shortstop, an Appalachian State University adjunct professor of Public Speaking, and a REALTOR® with Boone Realty — but most mornings, he's just a guy who loves baseball and loves helping kids get better at it.

He's coached little league in Watauga County, mentored players of all ages and skill levels, and built a reputation in the High Country as someone you can trust — not because he tells you to trust him, but because he shows up, does the work, and genuinely cares about the kids he coaches.

His coaching philosophy is straightforward: hustle, respect, and growth. Hustle for the game, for your teammates, and for yourself — every practice, every at-bat, every groundball. Respect for the game's traditions, for the umpires who officiate it, for the coaches who invest in it, for the opponents across the diamond, and for yourself. And growth — because every player is a work in progress, and development never stops.

In Coach English's experience, players who commit to those two things don't just become better baseball players — they become the kind of people everyone wants on their team, on and off the field.

Who this is for: You're already playing at a relatively high level — but you know there are blind spots in your game that need real attention. Specific mechanics. Muscle memory that isn't there yet. • 1 private one-on-one session per month with Coach English (60 min)
  • Monthly Academy Session — a private group meeting with Coach English and all Academy members to talk baseball, review goals, discuss the game, and build the kind of baseball IQ that only comes from serious conversation about the sport
  • Personalized focus areas — Coach English identifies your blind spots, builds every session around fixing them, and tracks your development over time
  • Weekly check-in via text or email — Coach English reaches out personally every week to see how you're feeling about your game, answer questions, and keep your development on track between sessions
